Softball Rules

(As requested by parents)

 1)  No substitutions without prior consent of the committee
 2)  Coach pitches to their own team.  3 pitches for the guys, and 4 pitches for the girls.
 3)  If the player hits the offensive pitcher, the ball is dead and is considered a strike.
 4)  There is no bunting.  It must be a full swing.
 5)  Bats are provided, however, if someone brings their own bat, everyone should be allowed to use it.
 6)  No lead offs. A lead off is when a player leaves the base before the ball is hit.
 7)  At first base, the runner uses the orange bag and the first baseman uses the white bag.
 8)  Bases are 50 feet apart
 9)  The play at home plate is considered a force play, therefore, the catcher does not have to tag  the
runner, however, the catcher must have a foot on home plate to get the runner out. The  runner does
not touch home plate, but must cross the home plate line before the catcher has  the ball.
10)  When running past third base, if the runner crosses the commitment line, the runner  must  run home,         or they will be considered an automatic out.
11)  Home team is determined by the toss of the coin for the games played on Saturday. Home games on
     Sunday are determined by standings.
12)  There is no in-field-fly rule.
13)  Players are expected to show respect towards other players and officials. Failure to do so results in
ejection of the game and/or tournament.
14)  Maximum 7 runs per inning, except the last inning is open
15)
All players must arrive on time. Teams missing players will play short-handed and if that
player is not available to bat, they are an automatic out.
16) Must wear team shirt
17)  Defensive fielders cannot throw to the offensive pitcher. Once the defensive team has control, the infield     player will give the ball the offensive pitcher.

Ground Rules

- An automatic home run is when the ball is hit over the left field fence
- If the ball rolls through the fence in left field or if the ball rolls into the bushes in center field to the left of
the tree, it is considered a ground rule double.
